15-Second Pinhole Reset Countdown Timer
If factory reset is truly necessary, hold the physical pinhole button with a paperclip until the countdown finishes and all router LEDs flash simultaneously.
What a Factory Reset Permanently Erases
- ISP WAN / PPPoE Credentials: Your username and password required to authenticate with your broadband provider.
- VLAN Tags: Custom Layer 2 VLAN IDs (e.g. VLAN 100 for Internet, VLAN 200 for IPTV), mandatory on fiber GPON networks.
- Wi-Fi Network Name & Password: Your SSIDs and custom passphrases revert to factory default printed on the sticker.
- DHCP Reservations & Port Rules: All static IPs, port forwarding rules, and DMZ configurations are wiped.
- Custom Admin Passphrase: Resets back to factory default (
admin/adminor unique sticker password).
Restart vs. Power-Cycle vs. 15-Second Pinhole vs. 30-30-30 Reset
| Reset Method | Action Taken | Settings Preserved? | Best Used For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soft Restart (Reboot) | Admin panel button or power switch toggle | Yes (100% Intact) | RAM memory leaks, slow Wi-Fi, minor glitch |
| 30-Second Power Cycle | Unplug DC barrel connector for 30s to discharge capacitors | Yes (100% Intact) | DHCP allocation failure, IP conflict, modem desync |
| 15s Pinhole Reset | Press rear reset pinhole with paperclip for 15s while powered on | NO (Completely Erased) | Forgot admin password, locked out of gateway |
| 30-30-30 Hard Reset | Hold 30s ON → 30s UNPLUGGED → 30s ON | NO (NVRAM Cleared) | Bricked legacy routers or corrupted NVRAM (pre-2015 devices only) |

Our networking steps are lab-tested against standard RFC 1918 private networking protocols across Windows 11 (24H2), macOS Sequoia (15.1), iOS 18, and Android 15. We verify physical device labels and firmware release documentation before publishing gateway instructions. Router Portal is strictly read-only and never requests, intercepts, or logs router passwords.
